    Cycling at WSU

    Riding bicycles is becoming more prevalent everywhere we go including the WSU campus. Here at WSU, the Green Bike Program is dedicated to increasing the availability of bikes for students and to further encourage a bike friendly culture.  In 2008 a report was created highlighting the current cycling infrastructure at WSU. This numbers have since greatly increased. 

    • 58 out of 99 buildings had bike racks (59%).
    • 725 bike rack spaces were available.
    • 9 locations had covered bike parking.
    • Out of 21 residence halls, 6 have indoor storage and 8 have covered bike parking.
    • WSU houses a Bike Polo Club and a Cycling Sports Club.

    Currently...

    • 80 Short-term Green Bikes are available at four locations with three additional locations and 27 bikes additional bikes arriving in Fall 2011.
    • 40 Long term Green Bikes available for up to 7 days at the Outdoor Recreation Center in the Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
    • The WSU-Fix it Bike Shop is open for Students, Faculty and Staff to learn about bike maintenance, promote bike safety and contribute to the bike culture. 
    • Parking and Transportation is working on a pedestrian and cycling master plan for WSU!
